FL Teach

FL teach is a discussion site for foreign language teachers. It includes archives going back several years, a news server, and dozens of online resources with categories such as media, dictionaries, activities, and language specific sites.

The most valuable sections of this site, for me, are the lists of web resources. They are logically categorized and include brief descriptions of each site. It would take many hours to check out the sites, but I plan to read through a number of the listings to get ideas for my classes and to network with other foreign language teachers.

...and, of course, a very active listserv. :)

I've received nearly 500 messages in the last 2.5 weeks.

Christine,

I am having the FL teach messages forwarded to my email inbox. It can be distracting at times, as those messages often look more interesting than what I'm supposed to be working on :-). One good thing is that the subject lines are very descriptive. I immediately delete messages that aren't as pertinent to me at the moment.

I've already used some of the ideas that I've read in the messages. It's like having a bunch of foreign language teachers to ask questions to or bounce ideas off of during lunch time. I used to subscribe to this listserve and then got involved with other things, but I'm currently teaching all Spanish classes (grades 1 through college), so this is giving me a lot of good ideas.

Christine,

Honestly, I only subscribed to that one for this class. I haven't even looked at messages that arrived after the first couple days :)

However, I am on a number of other active listservs and I do cruise through them about once a week, if possible, to glean good ideas.
